Why Go:

With a mix of spectacular water views, it's own unique climate & eclectic bars/restaurants, San Francisco has so much to offer.

Accommodations:

*Omni: great location, rock solid rooms & service

*Westin St Francis: across from Union Square, a classic hotel

Restaurants/Bars:

*Tadich Grill: old school, Cioppino is the best I've had...

*Kokkari Estiatorio: Greek, great atmosphere

*Comstock Saloon: mixologists like it there

*The Saloon: music/beer & since 1861 the oldest saloon in San Fran

*Coqueta @ Pier 5: best gin & tonic in the city & a view

*Smuggler's Cove: tiki/rum, you might think you're in the tropics

*Hog Island Oyster Co: one the best seafood restaurants you can find

*The Slanted Door: Vietnamese with a modern twist

*Cafe DeLucci: need a big breakfast after a long night of beers? Go here...

*Belden Place: eight restaurants in the alley

Things to Do:

*Dylan's Tours: do a bike tour the right way, electric to power up the hills

*Oracle Park: Giants baseball, 2nd level/1st base gets you a great view of the bay

*Walk the Embarcadero: great view of the water & easy walking

*Ferry Building: farm fresh market area with restaurants

*Old St Mary's Cathedral: a California Historic Landmark

*Sausalito: take the ferry over for a great view of San Fran = spectacular & sunny

*Muir Woods National Monument: giant redwoods with hiking trails, breathtaking

*Golden Gate State Park: gets busy when it's a nice day

Craft Beer Scene:

Northern California is one of the hottest spots in the nation for craft beer.  The bars/restaurants respect that and offer beers from all over California.  Some of my favorite are Anchor Steam (Liberty Ale), Russian River (Pliny the Elder), Bear Republic (Racer 5 IPA), Anderson Valley (Boont Amber Ale) & Lagunitas (Sumpin' Easy Ale).

TripTimmy Travel Tips:

The airport is about 45 minutes from downtown and the rental car facility seems likes it's on another planet.  If you are walking around downtown, be prepared to walk up/down the hills.  The only flat place is along the Embarcadero.  Dress in layers, you never know when it will turn cloudy & chilly. It's cloudy a lot & that's all I will say about that.
